Living Room Design Concepts

July 5, 2016

Last Updated on December 6, 2024

It’s an exciting day here at House Of Hipsters. Today, I’m revealing the living room design concepts, and I need your help. Hold up, are you asking yourself, “What are these design concepts you speak of?” Well, if you want the full monty, you can catch the instant replay of the Design Off by clicking on that link, but if not, here’s a quick recap.

So here’s the dealio, my girl, Jojotastic and I recently purchased new homes, and we were both jonesing for a project…mainly because we are a glutton for punishment because who in their right mind says,  “Hey I moved! Let’s get crazy”. Decorist heard the news and thought, wouldn’t it be fun to have a friendly little competition and teamed us up with two of their fabulous interior designers and let you, my sweet kittens, pick which interior design board concept to move forward with…insert weary cat face emoji (and yes, I had to visit the Emojipedia for that definition…and yes, there really is an emoji dictionary URL. Thank you Google.) Holy run-on sentence. So I’m putting my fate into you. Well, you and Ashley Redmond my DesignOff interior designer extraordinaire. This chicky is the bomb dot com and has style for miles.

After happily agreeing to these shenanigans, I put all my trust into her with only a tiny bit of Pinspiration. But I already knew what kind of fun I was getting myself into. Ashley and I teamed up last year and decked out the guest bedroom room makeover, so you can only imagine how thrilled I was to learn we’d be working together again.

Wanna get into it? Let’s roll. Can I have a drum roll plulllllllease…

GAAAAAAAW! Seriously, so good! I wish I would have videoed my face when I opened this email. Giddy with excitement was an understatement. I’ve named Living Room Design Concept 1 – Neutral Glam and Concept 2 – Eclectic Vintage. The Decorist DesignOff was on and in full effect.

Living Room Design Concepts

Both concepts used my existing brass tables that I adore and was ecstatic over, but then I started eyeing all the remaining goodies. First, let’s talk sofas…Interior Define is a new to me custom furniture company that I’m pretty much cuckoo for cocoa puffs over. That little blue number in Eclectic Vintage was designed by The Everygirl, and I’m dying over it (please put that in my room…m’kay?)…blue velvet? Little brass feet? Hello lover! Sign me up.

Let’s chat about all the other awesome that is happening too, shall we? Can I just have all the stuff? Put it in a box. Ship it to Chicago. Call it a day.

Ashley also likes to mix it up, so she gave me some new mixed in with those vintage treasures. That George Kovacs lamp is aaaahhhhmazing and even though the George Kovaks name can be associated with vintage, this particular lamp is new and available.

The real fun begins with those pillows. I snapped up a fox fur pillow at the flea market, and Ashley paired that pretty kitty up with a couple of others in the living room design concept Neutral Glam. Hey, is it possible to mesh both of these rooms into one? Cuz I’d totally be down with that.

Phew! I’m done blabbering. What do you think? Concept 1 – Neutral Glam or Concept 2 – Eclectic Vintage? You HAVE to pick one cuz this ain’t up to me. Can you believe the fate of my room rests in your hands? I mean, both are fabulous, but this is it. Shout it from the mountains, hilltops…oh heck, your front door will do. I’m dying to know which one it will be. Comment below or on my Facebook page. Do me proud and help me beat Joanna. That competitive edge has kicked in. Let’s do this!

Both are gorge. I am gravitating towards board #2, but I am wondering how the 1st sofa and window treatment (or is it art?) would look in it instead? I love the relaxed feel of the first sofa and the ease of textured piece above it!

Even though I prefer the blue couch, I’m picking #1.
The second design is brass overload IMHO.

I can’t believe I’m going for the safe option, but I really like the classic pieces in #1, and the fact that you’ll have more flexibility to mix it up when the mood strikes 🙂 What fun!
