Beautiful Distractions: New Striped Chair, PeeWee Herman’s Home Is For Sale, Men In Finance Are Trending, and More!
Last Updated on July 16, 2024
Did you pack too many things into the last few weeks? I sure did! We just wrapped up the end of the school-year activities. Zoe graduated from 5th grade (which means we are done with elementary school), and Cooper graduated from 8th grade. On top of that, we drove up to Wisconsin to visit my parents, and then I played camp counselor slash photographer last week at Twilight Camp for Girls Scouts. Even though things have been nutty, I wanted to share a few new things on my radar. Let’s jump into some Beautiful Distractions.
Table of Contents
New Funky Black And White Striped Chair
Let’s begin with my new black and white striped chair. You’re gonna either love it or hate it; there is probably no in-between. Obviously, I’m on the holy moly I’m obsessed with it side, but the neighborhood moms stopped by for a porch cocktail and decided it looked like the first 1950s Barbie doll — you know, the one in the black and white swimsuit. Now I can’t unsee it, but it doesn’t matter. I still freaking LOVE the chair! It adds so much personality to the front room and ties in the striped lumbar pillow and the black and white bone inlay table.
You may have noticed the new rug as well. This one is hand-knotted, super soft, and available at The Citizenry.
Check Out This Home For Sale!
Did you hear that PeeWee Herman’s home in the Hollywood Hills is for sale? This mid-century modern beauty, built in the 1950s in the Los Feliz neighborhood, offers a killer view of the Griffith Park Observatory and the iconic Hollywood Sign from nearly every vantage point.
PeeWee (Paul Rubens) purchased it for $415,000 in 1985, but the 1.4-acre parcel could be yours today for a cool $5 million. If I lived in California, I’d totally attend this open house just for a peek inside.
Zoom in on that wallpaper in the living room bar area! PeeWee showed off his vintage atomic retro vibe but kept the home feeling minimal and upscale. If I were to purchase this home, I wouldn’t change a thing and would ask if the furnishings could be included. This home is chef’s kiss!
Complete side note — I’ve been searching Zillow for a vacation home, and I might have a tiny surprise to announce in the near future. I don’t want to jinx it, so no details yet, but it’s happening, and you heard it here first!
New MCM Look For Solo Stove
I found my new outdoor (and indoor) stove! The mid-century modern Lloyd gel fuel fireplace oozes cool and immediately caught my attention. It might be eyeing it for the tiny surprise mentioned above. Just sayin’.

New Music For Your Ear Holes
If you have been scrolling social media, you know the bop of the summer is “Looking For A Man In Finance” by Girl On The Couch. It’s a total fluke how she became TikTok famous for her specifications—”trust fund, 6’5″, blue eyes, finance” — but that is the magic of the TikTok algorithm. Sometimes, you show up on David Guetta’s FYP page, and this happens. Give this earworm a listen.
Another bop that has been playing on heavy rotation is Number One Fan’s “Dance The Pain Away.” This catchy little ditty comes to you via my TikTok FYP page. And a random bit of trivia: the dancers in the video are from the singer’s Zumba class.
What I’m Watching
Last week, I was practicing revenge bedtime (thank you, ADHD) on a god-tier level and binge-watched We Are Lady Parts, a new-to-me series on Peacock about an all-girl Muslim punk band. It took a few episodes to connect with the characters, but it hooked me. This show is silly, smart, edgy, and wholesome, and their songs are bangers with lyrics to make you giggle. Season one is filled with lessons in empowerment and confidence, while season two enters the villain era, where deeper topics about race and religion are explored. Bring on season three Peacock!
