Last spring, I bought one of my first pieces of rattan furniture. What I like to call my entry-level step into the world of bohemian decor. Pretty soon, one rattan chair turned into two. Shortly after a side table arrived, followed by another. And after perusing Craigslist, my two chairs turned into three; only to be given the, “enough with the rattan already” look.
The Craigslist chair was banished to the patio. But it looked incredible out there, so I replaced it with two matching rattan loungers. Eep! After a short detox, I relapsed and a rattan daybed suddenly appeared in the foyer. I have no idea where it came from. I swear, it just appeared. I didn’t even leave the house. I just saw some lady drive up and drop it off. Craziest thing I ever did see! Presently, I’m grounded from buying any more rattan anything. Whoopsies.
All that being said, let it be known that I must own a rattan hanging chair. Get in my house pronto! Come on, what’s not to like about being cocooned in a swing? Style it with a fluffy lambskin rug, throw in a couple of small indigo pillows, and you’ve got yourself a cozy little floating nest. Originally designed by Nanna Ditzel, it captures such a simple and organic approach to design. I sounded smart there, but The Boy didn’t buy it. So I’ve guaranteed him he’ll change his mind once he installs one and takes it for a test drive. Oh, you should’ve seen THAT look! Yikes!

I spotted my first on Domino’s blog in an article about Serena and Lily. My latest encounter was with the One Room Challenge. Two rooms I was lusting over had rattan hanging chairs. Super cute and adorable.
Every night I’ve been scrolling through Pinterest, and let me tell you, it’s hanging chair after hanging chair. I’m starting to twitch. The Boy asks what’s wrong…nothing honey, nothing at all…and definitely not jonesing for rattan…go back to watching Ridiculousness. Pin. Pin. Pin. Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
Not to worry, I’ll get my hands on one, somehow, some way. I mean, even Jonathan Adler has been quoted as saying every home needs a hanging chair. One does not mess with Lord Adler. Oh and fear not renters…a rattan hanging chair can be yours as well! Some can be purchased with a stand. Who knew! #teamrattan forever. Want more ideas? I would very much like to be the woman in the first shot on this Monday morning. Charcoal wall, overlapping rugs, hanging chair, stack of books, and no computer in sight. I’d just need to bring the coffee!

I tried to bring a rattan chair home a few weeks ago for my husband’s office and he nixed it, saying it reminded him of his college dorm. So annoying! I love the 5th one (and the black wall in the first shot).

I first spotted hanging chairs on the Domino Blog as well:) My latest obsession is the hanging, daybed; made out of reclaimed wood pallets(especially the rustic outdoor ones.) I’ve been seeing a ton ( on Pinterest ) of pallet full size beds, suspended like two feet off the floor in the bedroom, they are magnificent….I know u wrote this awhile ago, but I wanted to ask where the last hanging chair is from? It’s beautiful…….Thank you❣
