As you know, I embarked on an easy kitchen pantry organization project for the New Year New Room Challenge hosted by Casa Watkins Home. I ordered a couple of storage bins and lazy susans, and while I waited for my delivery to arrive, I decided to jump right in. Completely spur of the moment. My impulsive ADHD brain said just empty everything out. Sort through and toss expired boxes or cans, wipe down the shelves, paint, and begin grouping food items. Easy peasy, right? Wrong!

Working Through Project Paralysis
I was over this project when I got to the bottom shelf. I had been working in the kitchen for about 3 hours at this point, and the joy of organizing had left me with an overwhelming mess on my countertops. Now, if you have ADHD, you know when a task gets outta hand, and the excitement of a project fades, you’re immediately paralyzed. Thankfully The Boy walked into the kitchen and kinda snapped me out of it. Right then and there, I decided not to paint the interior. That was a job for another day. The task at hand was to put the food back into the pantry and walk away.
Planning Out Pantry Item Placement
The day before, I mapped out the entire pantry to scale. Placing boxes here and there and moving them around. Would a lazy susan work better or a plastic bin? Would it fit? I also placed the organizing bins to avoid returning items. I pulled out the map, and it was my saving grace. I had a plan on where food items should go and what I was using to organize everything,

When I was finished, I stepped back and admired my work. I pulled my kids and The Boy into the kitchen and said, “See this? It shall remain this way.” Fast forward one week, and I’m happy to report it looks the same as it did seven days ago! Even though I failed at painting, I created a base. The large plastic bins will arrive soon, and I can organize the bread, rolls, and snacks. I realized I only need one set of risers for the baking shelf. I’m almost finished!
Stay tuned for the final reveal next week, and hop over to see what the other gals who joined this challenge are up to!
