Should I Stay or Should I Indigo – One Room Challenge Progress

Phew! Man, the past week has flown by. Radio silence has ensued (sorry about that…it’s not you, it’s me), but I swear I’m not sitting on the sofa eating bon-bons watching Days Of Our Lives. (Is that show even on anymore? In college was addicted to it.) Anyhoo, I’ve been moving around furniture, styling vignettes, giving the UPS man hugs, shopping at my favorite vintage stores, and pawing through what I already own like a mad woman. Then I move it all round again…and again…and again…and then I change my mind…again. The One Room Challenge progress report is in full effect today. My home office is starting to take shape. Transforming right before my eyes and I really like what I’m seeing. If you missed it, I posted this sneak peek of the space on my Instagram Monday morning.

Loloi Rug - Anastasia, Sand and Light Blue. Inspiration for Office Makeover on House Of Hipsters.

How ’bout that rug, eh? I’ve been drooling over this Loloi Rug named Anastasia since its launch and pretty much freaking out over it. I knew I had to make it work in the space because one way or another, this bad mamajama was going to be mine.

One Room Challenge – Week 1

Late last Spring I gave both my master and guest bedroom a major makeover. I was on design project overload, and oddly, it seemed like every other blogger on the planet was doing the same. What a strange coincidence. Everyone I knew was suddenly tearing their homes apart and documenting the process. Why are you guys stealing my thunder with your amazing room makeovers? Knock it off already. What the heck people? I kept seeing One Room Challenge here and One Room Challenge there. I’m sorry? What is this One Room Challenge you speak of?One Room Challenge

Finally, one night, I Googled One Room Challenge and was immediately taken to Calling It Home…an amazing blog on home interiors and low and behold, the creator of the one and only One Room Challenge. Twice a year, if they are up for it, bloggers are challenge to give an incredible room makeover to a disaster zone and given only 6 weeks to complete it. Motivating? Yes. Challenging? Yes. Insanely crazy? YES! How did I not know about this? Where was the blogger memo? How did I miss it, and more importantly, how can I join in because man-o-man does this look like one heck of a good time. Well, I had to wait until Fall to participate, but that time is now, and I’m here with bells on. Let’s do this already!

Bar Cart Styling

The awesomeness of the bar cart was first introduced to me years ago by the always fabulous Mrs. Lilien. Her boozy concoctions always resting on beautiful brass and glass. I longed to sit poolside with her highness, in Palm Springs, dressed in a bright flowy kaftan, sipping libations, garnished with a juicy chunk of pineapple and a pink umbrella. Yes, I know, that was very specific. But then I awake from my fanciness to face the reality of my two young children. Ha! I love them, but that party on wheels is so not happening. Besides, I partake in a drink or two, but not enough to require a full on bar cart. The Boy is primarily a beer drinker…German beer…specifically Kolsch. Bar cart styling was not in my near future. Whomp. Whomp.

I Heart Chairish Instagram Sales

Today is not just Tuesday, it’s one of those super exciting, special days for me. Today I’m being interviewed on Chairish. They are asking me all sorts of questions about the items I purchased on one of their Chairish Instagram Sales and how I styled the pieces in my home. Woah! Slow down. How did this happen you ask? Well, here’s the back story, but be sure to hop on over to Chairish to read the interview and view all the styled items to get the real vintage fix. I swear, I’ve been so excited to show them off. So please, go check it out.

Back in January, you might remember I was talking about Alt Summit. And while Grace and I stood in line at the airport, waiting for a taxi to the hotel, a woman behind us asked if she could share a ride. (I want to say it’s because I looked like a fancy blogger, but it’s probably because she heard us say Grand America Hotel where all the bloggers were staying. I’m going with the whole fancy blogger bit for now.) Anyhoo, I wanted to say yes, but I glanced at my luggage and then at Grace’s, and then at hers, oh boy. We didn’t travel light that particular week. I said, “For sure! That is if we can all fit.” Yikes!

We managed to snag a minivan, and the three of us were off to the hotel. She politely asked us if we were bloggers and we gave her a, “Ya, how’d you guess”, kinda ho-hum reply. She laughed. Turned out she worked for Chairish – only like my favorite online shopping resource for vintage goods! OMG! I squealed on the inside but tried to remain calm on the outside.

DIY Vintage Headpieces

IT’S DAY 6! I don’t mean to shout, BUT IT’S DAY 6!!!!!! I hope you guys have had as much fun with the Wildwood Speakeasy New Year’s Eve party as we have. I know I’ve said this before, but seeing it all come together has been so exciting. This past week has been like Christmas every day. Each morning I race to my computer to see what Laura from Avery Street Design and Grace from The Big Reveal have written and created. Since we aren’t neighbors, we really don’t get to see the full post until it goes live. Just a couple texts of pictures to make sure we’re all on board. Each post has been so insanely beautiful, I can’t even stand it. These ladies are truly talented and working with them has been just dreamy. But alas, all good things must come to an end. For our grand finale, Grace is going to wrap things up with a tutorial on gorgeous DIY Vintage Headpieces.
