Final Reveal – The Bathroom Makeover – One Room Challenge

It’s Week 6 of the One Room Challenge which means ding, ding, ding, times up! Words can’t even express how excited I am about the bathroom makeover. I mean wow! The transformation is crazy, and I honestly can’t believe I live here. It’s wacky and crazy and out there and pretty much describes exactly what happens in my brain. Like if you were a really tiny person and crawled into my ear to have a look around, I would imagine this is exactly what you’d see. Are you prepared for this? Put yo’ pinky rings up to the moon. Whoop, whoop!

An antique dresser was converted into a bathroom vanity. I love the eclectic wallpaper by House Of Hackney - Empire Midnight. I love the Clé Tile Cubicon cement tiles on the floor paired with white subway tile.

The goal for this bathroom was if you are a guest in my house and in the need of the lavatory, you will walked in here and forget to pee. Gerry my man, you did one hell of a job. Seriously, you brought everything that was in my head to life. If you live in the Chicago area and are in need of an amazing contractor, give this guy a buzz…and no he’s not paying me to say this. He just did an amazing job for one of the toughest clients on the planet…me.

BSHT Summer Blogger Home Tour

How crazy am I to sign up for The White Buffalo Styling Co.’s Summer Blogger Stylin’ Home Tour on moving day? Ummmm, very; and I’m really hoping this post doesn’t turn out to be a dud because there is a lot of blank slate below compared to all the other homes on the tour. The only pieces I’ve hauled over in Layla (the lifted vintage monster truck) are my most favorite pieces. The pieces that are most precious to me.

Even though the new house is fairly empty and unfinished, I thought I could take you through what I’ve done and what might be happening soon. Hopefully you’ll also have some ideas, input, inspo, or thoughts on certain rooms that you can share in the comment section, cuz opinions and ideas are always welcome here. Oh, and don’t leave here without jumping over to the killer giveaway happening with Tuft & Needle. It’s your chance to win a queen sized mattress, and it’s gonna end soon. Enter here. Don’t worry, I’ll wait for you.

Blogger Stylin Home Tour - Summer Edition

If you saw yesterday’s Snapchats (HouseOf Hipsters), then you know my photobooth got hauled out of the basement and into the new digs. That booth is a beastly old girl, and she put up a fight…god bless the guys from A&A Studios. There were moments that we thought it was mission impossible, but as I’m writing this, I’m sitting here in my kitchen listening it hum. It’s running. It’s working. It’s in. Phew! One less thing to worry about…trust me, that booth has been a stress factory for the old noggin’. I’m glad that part of the move is done.

New House Progress Report – The Dining Room

If you’ve been watching my Snapchat ( houseofhipsters ) or paying attention to my Instagram, you’ve seen quite a few sneak peeks of the new house…especially the dining room. What on Earth ever possessed me to begin designing that particular room is beyond me. Maybe it’s because it was different? Something new? I mean, I’ve never had a formal dining room before. Maybe it’s because I saw some blush and brass chairs and had to find a way to make them mine? Hee-hee. I don’t know. But whatever the reason, there’s one thing I know for sure. This dining room is the tits. There. I said it. Pardon my language, but it’s been like watching Caitlin Jenner’s transformation. Clutch the pearls! Shut the door and mouth on floor! This dining room is the bees knees.

Progress report on vintage hollywood regency and rustic mixed dining room.

Okay, so maybe it’s not totally rad here, but trust me…keep reading. You won’t be disappointed when you see what happens.

Decorating with vintage home decor really shows off your personality…not to mention it can be easy on the wallet. But there’s a fine line between staying in the now and time warping. So how do you find that trending boho slash mid century modern look and not have Marsha screaming, “Oh! My nose!”

Marsha Brady Oh My nose!

Easy, you must learn hot to mix old and new…vintage with modern. There’s no need to smash someone upside the head with vintage overload. But to find a good balance, you must have patience, a good eye, and a lot of trial and error. Not sure where to start? Confused? Don’t fret little one. We’re going to look at a few of my favorite Pinterest rooms (I strongly recommend following), and I’m going to tell you where you can find and source all the key home decor pieces.
