So I Married a Blogger

So today is kind of a historic slash epic slash one-of-a-kind slash ain’t never gonna happen again so you better read this kinda blog post. I’m normally the anti-Valentine’s Day gal, but when the fabulous Claire Brody asked if I’d like to have The Boy take part in a little Q&A Valentine’s Day fun, I was all in…errrr, I mean, The Boy was all in. At least I hoped he was. Technically I hadn’t asked him when I committed to a yes.

House Of Hipsters' Husband

Although The Boy is super supportive of my bloggery ways, he really doesn’t like to participate in HOH much…unless he’s hanging something, fixing something, being dragged to a flea market or vintage store, or whipping out a credit card for me…even then I don’t think he “likes” it all that much. And he’s definitely totally okay with being behind the scenes. That is until today. Before I hand over my precious, I’m going to give you all fair warning. The Boy has a potty mouth. If you can’t handle a cuss word here and there, please close your browser now. If you like reading silliness and dry humor narrated by a curmudgeon with the mouth of a sailor, read on folks and enjoy.

Found & Foraged Linky Party #34

Hello! Hello! Welcome to the Found & Foraged Linky Party! Did you guys have an amazing Fourth Of July? Ours was quiet but still busy. The Boy and I took the kiddos to the carnival and let Little Dude stay up late to watch the fireworks. That is with one stipulation; don’t tell your sister you get to stay up. He abided by that rule, but you could tell it was difficult to hold in the excitement. At one point he ran over to her and jumped up and down like a banshee and said, “Nevermind!” and ran away. Little weirdo.

We put Little Maus to sleep and Little Dude waited politely in his room until I got him. He was give the choice to watch ET or (old school) Willy Wonka. I described both plot lines and let him study the DVD covers. He felt ET might be too scary and opted for Willy Wonka. Meanwhile, The Boy was making tacos for our dinner. I made a tasty libation. About twenty minutes past when Little Dude says, “Hey Mommy. Hey Daddy. Is this what you guys do every night?” The Boy and I kinda giggled and said, “Ummmm, ya???” He said, “Cool!!!!” We topped off his evening with an ice cream bar while he was dressed as Luke Skywalker. What a kid.

Well, let’s get this party started already, shall we? Again you guys brought your A Game with you. Every project was on point and glowing! Loved them all! Here are a few features.

Found & Foraged Linky Party #33

Happy 4th of July you guys! Well, I’m sure a lot of you won’t be linking up right at 8PM tonight because you’re watching a beautiful display of fireworks. In fact, you’re probably reading this, enjoying your coffee, and it’s actually July 5th. Don’t worry, I’m not holding it against ya! Besides, unless it’s Wednesday at noon, you’re never late to the Found & Foraged Linky Party.

This past week was a good one for me. I feel like I’m finally catching up. I showed off my recent vintage rattan finds, and I finally posted Part 2 of my Decorist guest bedroom makeover. I have only a few more things to accomplish on the to-do-list, and I’ll be posting the final reveal. The painter was here yesterday, and I just returned from Sherwin Williams. Swatches in hand. Who knew picking out the perfect white could be so difficult???

We had so many great projects last week, you all made it very difficult to pick features. Thanks for linking up and showing off your best recipe, DIYs and projects!

Found & Foraged Linky Party #32

It’s Saturday night! Welcome to the Found & Foraged Linky Party! As most of you know, having a really exciting blogger day is few and far between, but I had some serious excitement last Sunday afternoon. I had my first viral post…courtesy of Buzzfeed! My Champagne Smash cocktail recipe was #5 on the list. I was totally doing the Snoopy dance…and still am. I also took over the Chairish blog for the day to share my tips and tricks on styling your nightstand.

On the blog, I’m hosting a giveaway with Cellular Window Shades. If you’re in the market for window treatments or know anyone who is, go enter to win. I recently installed them in the house, and they are awesome. I also posted a new cocktail recipe called a Hugo over on Live Laugh Rowe. My mother-in-law introduced it to me while visiting Germany; it’s delicious! If you have the ingredients, I highly suggest you go make yourself one now.

Today, I went to the Randolph Flea Market in downtown Chicago and got to meet Canary Lane. Their kilim rugs from Turkey are swoon worthy, as is the handmade furniture. Incredibly sweet and wonderful people. Their site is being revamped, but you can check out their Facebook or Instagram. Just don’t buy the one twenty rugs that I’m lusting over. Anyhoo, back to the flea, I picked up some really great treasures and can’t wait to share them with you.

I also got a tweet from Summer Thornton Design yesterday about their 2-Day Moving Flea. Score of the century you guys! A gold faux bamboo etagere that is out or this world AND an almost matching bar cart. If you don’t know Summer, her designs have been recently featured in Lonny Magazine, Domino and Rue Magazine just to name a few. Ya, she’s kind of a big deal. I’ll be doing a post soon on the entire haul from today. Let’s start this party already!
