Hey Kyla! Where’d Ya Get That Sofa?

Yep, I’ve been hearing that a lot lately…lots of folks asking me about the sofa I chose for the Decorist DesignOff. Today I’m going to break it down and talk about a bit about the Chicago-based furniture company Interior Define, and why I chose the Caitlin sofa.

Final Reveal — Decorist DesignOff with Jojotastic and House of Hipsters

Hi friend! Can you feel the excitement is in the air today? Today is final reveal day for the Decorist DesignOff between Jojotastic and myself. All the hard work has finally come to fruition. In case you’re new to this neck of the interwebs woods, Joanna and I got a little crazy and decided to lose all control of our new homes to let you, our reader, vote on which Decorist DesignOff project we should move forward with. WHAAA!?!? At first I thought I was completely insane, and I’ll admit to having a couple nightmares of Hildi Santo Tomas from Trading Spaces, gluing hay to my walls. EEEEP! But when I opened the email and saw the initial mood boards, I let out the biggest sigh of relief! My interior designer, Ashley Redmond, blew both designs outta the water.

Be sure to stop over to Jojotastic to check out her final reveal as well! And don’t forget, Decorist is offering a super generous 20% off your next design project. Just use the promo code DesignOff20 when you check out. Also, be sure to hop on over to Rue Magazine tomorrow for their final wrap of the Decorist DesignOff.

The Decorist DesignOff with Jojotastic & House Of Hipsters– Part 1

Moving day officially arrived last Friday. It feels like it took forever, but it finally happen it, and it only took 1 semi-truck plus 1 large package truck and 8 burly men to get us out of one space and into another. Oy! It was a crazy hot day without air conditioning on the hottest day of the year (that’s a whole nuther story)…but we made it! As I was moving chairs and sofas from room to room, the space just felt like home. It didn’t feel new, but instead felt warm and cozy…like we had lived there for years. I guess that’s probably how it’s supposed to feel. However, you know how I like to shake it up…itching for something new, so I reached out to Decorist for some virtual online design fun because this one can’t hold still for long. We have dubbed this project The Decorist DesignOff.

I Make Emily Henderson Cry

Oh sweet Emily, you recently wrote about the kind of disaster that is your family room. And I gotta tell ya, I really needed to read this. Yes, you might have been sitting on the most perfect vintage blue Persian rug that you bought for $12 that alludes me and wearing the most perfect plaid shirt with the most perfect brown boots not tucked into straight leg jeans that I can never seem to pull off without feeling like I’m stomping around like a tyrannosaurus rex cowgirl…sorry, rambling, I digress, focus…but you taught me that it’s ok to have a room that’s not completely perfect and still showcase it on House Of Hipsters…even if it makes you cry a tiny bit.

Many of you have asked for a house tour. A wider look at the nook of disaster in the living room. I’ve had some emails asking which coffee table I wound up purchasing. Did I add curtains to the living room? Well, this living room makeover even if not quite perfected will answer a few of those unanswered questions.
