DIY Photobooth Backdrop

Hello! Hello you guys! It’s day three of the Wildwood Speakeasy New Year’s Eve theme party! Are you excited? I know I am. Whoohoo! Seriously you guys, y’all are watching this unfold and come together just as we are. It’s so exciting to see something you’ve kinda just dreamed up in your head become more then just a pretty picture. It’s our little Alt Summit baby! Someone HAS to throw this party. It’s the B.O.M.B.!!! And it’s just as Laura described it a couple months ago as my tired eyes were trying not to close while Google chatting. A bunch of rich kids drinking glam-slash-hipster-style in the woods. It’s a little luxe. It’s a little hipster. It’s a little rustic. And a whole lotta exclusive. Are you guys ready for a DIY photo booth backdrop? Everyone, in case you’ve missed her (Seriously, not sure how you could, she’s gorgeous!) meet Grace from The Big Reveal!

Holiday Thrift Store Challenge Blog Hop

Holiday Thirft Store Challenge

When I got the email from Thoughts From Alice asking if I’d like to participate in the Holiday Thrift Store Challenge, I didn’t have to think twice. Yes! And yes again! Okay, how ’bout yes a third time. I was super jazzed to participate with the list of fabulous bloggers she had put together. And completely honored. But, could I keep up? I mean, I am the (self proclaimed) thrifting queen in my own little world. Well, kinda. I’m the flea market slash antiquing queen in my own little world, but thrift stores are a bit out of my element. I hadn’t been to one in a long time. You really have to know what you’re doing and have good eyes when it comes to thrift store gems. Diamonds in the rough I guess you’d call them.

So what’s this “challenge” shtuff that am I chattering about? Well, Alice asked us to venture out to our local thrift store and procure something anything for under $25 to use as holiday decor in a creative way. We could give these items a complete makeover or use it/them in a creative vignette. She wanted us to see beyond the surface of what someone discarded or no longer needed and think outside the box. She wanted us to show you, our readers, how to save money on holiday decor by using a little creativity. Well, Alice! Challenge accepted!

DIY Modern Dreamcatcher

How to make a Modern Dreamcatcher

I’ve always loved dreamcatchers, but the style itself doesn’t exactly fit my decor. It’s more funky bohemian which I love that style, but my house is more mid-century modern (trapped inside a cookie cutter house in the land of suburbia…but that is another story). This DIY by Grace caught my eye last summer and has always stuck in my head. IT’s so beautiful and I love all the colors she incorporated. I wanteda dreamcatcher for myself, but I wanted one with a twist. Something a bit more modern, but I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I started to search Etsy. Now if you’ve read my DIY Blog Tour, you already know that this is the jump off to my DIY creative process. I look for some rando item for the house, Google it, get sticker shock and think, “Hmmm, can I make that?” and then I share it with you guys if it’s not an epic fail. Because that’s how I roll.

DIY Blog Tour

Hey guys! Hope you are having an awesome week! So I have kind of a different post today. Last week I received a sweet email from my new blogger friends Foxtail + Moss asking me if I wanted to participate in a DIY Blog Tour. Ummm, really? YES PLEASE! They too are from Chicago, and I heart their work so much; how could I say no? (Seriously, these girls kick some serious DIY butt, and I’m completely honored they even consider me!) The girls sent me a few questions which I’ve answered below and then I’m handing you off to my favorite DIY blogger. That might just have been the hardest part of the interview! There are so many talented bloggers out there.

DIY – Candle Packaging

FREE PRINTABLE INCLUDED BELOW IN THIS POST! DON’T MISS IT!

Free Printable Candle Label Graphic

I have to admit, 100% of the time, if you were to place two identical items in front of me, one having spectacular packaging and the other with horrible type and all the crazy colors of a fruit bowl, I’d pick the pretty packaging hands down. Even if it was more money, I’d buy the pretty packaging. Materialistic, maybe? Vain, maybe? I’d like to think hope chalk it up to good taste. But one this is for sure, it’s the graphic designer in me. I crush on good typography. I live for it. I’m constantly judging magazines and billboards for their kerning. I just can’t help it.
