Design Crush: The Rattan Hanging Chair

Last spring, I bought one of my first pieces of rattan furniture. What I like to call my entry level step into the world of boho interiors. Pretty soon, one rattan chair, turned into two. Shortly after a side table arrived, followed by another. And after perusing Craigslist, my two chairs turned into three; only to being given the, “enough with the rattan already” look.

One Room Challenge — Office Makeover with Vintage Finds

Time!!! The One Room Challenge final reveal deadline has arrived! Hands up! Well kinda. It’s the night before this post goes live, and I’m typing as fast as my little fingers can hit keys. I take that back, it’s after midnight. But for all intents and purposes, this room is dunzo! Like many of the other participants, I got the flu, and I’m tired and exhausted. Anyone who tells you this challenge is a breeze is lying. However, it’s also one of the most enjoyable blog projects I’ve ever completed. It’s been an absolute blast, but it really has come down to the wire. Last Saturday, I was still putting the finishing touches on the styling and scouring the Grayslake Flea Market like a crazed woman on a mission…for which I was. Yes, there are a few things that didn’t arrive on time, but it’s all good. I’m still pleased as punch with the final outcome.

My goal for this room was to bring in a lot of vintage pieces. Mixing old and new. Giving it a twist. Not banking on trends. I wanted the space to be comfy. Cozy. Someplace I’d like to hang out for hours. Challenge accepted. And I have to tell you, in my heart, with every fiber of my body, I know I hit this room makeover out of the park. Since I’m one of those people who can’t hold in their excitement…here’s the final reveal! My office makeover with vintage finds.

One Room Challenge – Office Makeover

Patience is not a virtue of mine. Albeit convenient, online shopping obviously lacks immediate gratification. And when you’re in a time crunch like the One Room Challenge where you pick one room to transform from hot mess to hallelujah and only have 6 weeks to do so, well, waiting a week for deliveries was probably not my smartest move. I’m now thinking instead of napping last Sunday, I really should have driven my lazy bum to West Elm to buy blush pillows and blue vases. Instead I chose to buy them off the interwebs and sleep. Now I pay the price and pace like a caged animal. I also have to apologize up front. My lighting acted up while shooting, so you’ll have to excuse the mediocre iPhone imagery in this post. Hopefully I’ll get this snafoo repaired before next week’s shoot. Hey! One Room Challenge! You’re kicking my anxiety into over drive!

The One Room Challenge Home Office interior design makeover is in Week 4, and I've been styling vignettes.

Home Office Design Project – One Room Challenge Week 3

Confidence is building with the home office design project as I push through Week 3 of the One Room Challenge hosted by Calling It Home. In case you don’t remember, last week, I was styling the window sill behind the vintage Chesterfield from South Loop Loft and finishing the build on my new workspace. A last minute decision was made, throwing me off my game plan, and I chose not to use vintage indigo wedding panels and rattan I had found at a flea. My gut was telling me it was a bit trendy and overdone. Instead ordered up a beautiful mid-century modern velvet blush chair. I have my fingers, toes and eyes crossed that it arrives in the next couple weeks…or at least before this challenge wraps.
